''The fragrance is an unwise and unfortunate creation caused by bad judgement and care.'' The Nose. A wild, intense fragrance, Blamage is all about process. For his final Nasomatto creation, Gualtieri endeavored to make a successful mistake. Blamage was constructed in the tradition of fragrance laboratory errors gone right. Like a waterfall of ever-shifting color and texture, Blamage is unfailing potent and consistently exciting; luckily it also happens to be blindingly beautiful. Like the crash that instantly absorbs your attention, this mistake is intoxicating. Initially, Blamage is fresh, as if two pewter bells (potentially hewn from lime and violet) are ringing ceaselessly. Then, with a sudden jolt the tart aspect of Blamage we assumed was indubitably citric appears to be attributable to a searingly bright, smoking resin--or perhaps even the green, fresh meat of a freshly cut tree. As this tang evolves it softens, spices (or what appears to be spice) overlays this luminous opening, so that shades of richer, denser color (and scent) begin to surface. As these deeper tones emerge, something akin to the satin smooth, unsweetened elegance of magnolia creeps forth, a night blooming flower unfurling in the burgeoning darkness. So Blamage continues; on some skins, it eventually rests at a clear conclusion, while on other bodies it seems to continuously evolves, until, after some double-digit hour long period, it softens into a myriad of memories. The perfect symbol for the iconoclastic, new-classic's character of the Nasomatto collection, Blamage is a stand-alone scent, a remarkable substance that defies definition but invites admiration.
