While on the Caribbean island of Tortola, architects James OÆHalloran and Kevin Foley came up with an idea for a better toothbrush. In 1982 the original design for the Radius toothbrush was born, featuring an ergonomic handle and 5,500 bristles (the average brush has 1,500). Today, the toothbrush's ergonomic design is featured in the Permanent Collection of the Smithsonian Institute's National Design Museum.
