Gold is a classic oriental fragrance, rich in splendour and sophistication, created for the most special luxurious evening occasion. Gold Woman is synonymous with timeless glamor. The bouquet that makes up half of Gold slowly reveals itself, with tantalizing precision.
First, we experience rose. This rose is so clean and sweet it seems to foretell a different, more innocent fragrance. Yet, as it’s paired with its familiar dance partner lily of the valley, rose begins to reveal its exacting, searing sensuality; rose`s fresh scent is amplified by lily`s plush green and white peaks and valleys, until the former and the latter resolves into a high soprano that sluices across skin like a purifying holy water.
Frankincense and myrrh follow this venerable floral duo and proceed to steam up Gold, making her sparkle and shift in the smoky darkness these incense resins provide. As the herbal, burning cloud clears, orris emerges; a nebulous figure that`s simultaneously solid and crumbling, orris supplies a dry wit and dissident humor. This flower is unconventionally beautiful yet it threatens to steal the show with its unique textures.
When jasmine arrives on the scene, she falls in step with orris and yields up her own most challenging assertion of beauty: this jasmine is indolic, but moreover so thick and creamy that it is almost impossible to tell scent from texture, as jasmine gleams with unrepentant, blinding confidence. These beguiling floral beauties hold the heart of Gold Woman like fraternal twins making their society debut, each as diversely stunning as they are socially impenetrable.
Ambergris (like each remaining note herein) attempts to penetrate their aloof arrangement, but merely manages to capture some of jasmine and orris` spectacular weight as they walk straight over amber’s pliant surface. Civet stands up to the wily textures of these floral sisters along with its relative, musk, and attempts to match the blooms in uncontainable spirit--but to no avail. Since amber, civet and musk were no match for these beastly beauties, we doubt the power of sandalwood or cedar to affect any aspects of these bepetaled characters. Yet these final notes have the most effect over the floral heart of Gold.
The dulcet, floral tinged smoke of cedarwood pairs marvelously with jasmine, and brings out her juicy, freshness, which induce a shift in weight and a lighter more airborne incarnation thereof. Sandalwood sears orris, heating her heft into a trim, mellifluous flow that is neither diminished nor overly tailored.
Gold Woman is an unabashedly solid scent of impervious, majestic beauty, yet it sizzles and shimmers on skin (thanks to incense) like an infinite, lightweight coat of armor (by the grace of woods). Perfect for a gala, or for any day when you want to get in touch with your innermost, defiantly gorgeous self, Gold Woman empowers every possibility. A daub of dahab goes a long way.
