About Marfa Eau de Parfum:
'The eye of a tuberose': Oil of mandarin, Orange blossom absolute, Agave accord, Tuberose absolute, Oil of ylang ylang, Oil of sandalwood, Oil of cedar, Vanilla seed, White musk

At the junction of Routes 90 and 67, deep in Texan ranch land, three hours from the closest airport: Marfa. A destination with a unique destiny, chosen by Memo to inaugurate its Art Land collection. Its bottle emblazoned with a wide-open eye provides the first clue. Marfa beckons the eye and holds its gaze.

Despite the blinding sun and the irritating dust, the oldest inhabitants of this isolated American town lost on a high, arid plateau of the Chihuahuan Desert, the eye won’t waver. For Marfa has a power of attraction like no other, casting its spell on all those who come its way.

This too is the property of a fragrance when it creates that magical bond. The encounter with Memo was thus meant to happen and did so with Tuberose Absolute: a bewitching, lingering, unforgettable flower. From the same family as Agave, which blooms at the heart of the desert and signals its presence in a top note accord, the Marfa fragrance evokes the singular nature of this white-hot land.

Instantly irresistible, Marfa is sweet, tangy, and dry. Mandarin rises above the desert horizon, a first peep of daylight through the the fading moonlit clouds. As mandarin’s juizy zing slices through the night’s last hurrah, this infusion of citric energy reaches the dark-cooled countenance of orange blossom, bringing it sweetly to life.

Orange blossom is like spiced cream, comforting and provocative simultaneously. Still, orange blossom is primarily a predecessor: the cultural currency of Marfa is definitively summed up by the bombastic, inexplicably beautiful and slightly mystical character of tuberose. Fruity and vibrant, tuberose resounds throughout the wide open Texan wilderness, illuminating and imagining unforeseen structures with the creative freedom of a practiced artist.

Agave’s smoldering sweetness echoes tuberose’s unstoppable music while ylang ylang sews the intensity of this floral music into the golden sands that ground this landscape. Sandalwood provides an invisible clarity, its green purity offsetting the sugared intensity of this triumvirate of white flowers.

Cedar is a mysterious substance herein, which shades and darkens Marfa in spite of its sunny demeanor: somehow, amidst all this pure, unmitigated light, dim corners still exist. Vanilla softens the electric energy of tuberose, and together these components engineer a slightly toasted, burnt sugar quality that humanizes the almost superhuman beauty of Marfa. White musk etches the faint, downy pulls of cloud that stretch across this perfectly blue, Southwestern sky.

Marfa is a cluster of ideals, refracted through scent: freedom, creativity, beauty evolve into one energy that glows, just above skin. Shortcircuit pain and mainline joy with this ebullient, gleaming substance.

(mandarin, orange blossom absolute, agave, tuberose absolute, ylang ylang, sandalwood, cedar, vanilla seed, white musk)

About Memo:

Clara and John Molloy, the founders of Memo Paris, met on a chair lift, between sky and earth, between two worlds, in that weightless space that brings out one’s daring side and broadens horizons. It wasn’t long before they decided to set off together on a long-distance journey. Memo, which they launched in 2007, was part of the adventure: a collection of scents from afar that take a destination and make it the point of departure for a sense-awakening epic. Each captivating fragrance serves as a threshold between the known and the unknown, an exciting invitation to openness and discovery that will surely take you on your own aromatic odyssey.
