The baroness of Dudevant was to become renowned through her androgynous pen name, George Sand. A writer of genius, famous lover and committed, modern woman, she was a brilliant incarnation of female strength. A contemporary spirit, this perfume reflects her generosity of spirit and sensuality. An amber-rich, floral bouquet, 1804 commemorates George Sand's bond with nature. This portrait is structured by a heady array of spices and colored in with the sweet nectar of fruits. Tahitian gardenia is a rich, bright flower that evokes a deep sense of release. Corsican peach is unmatched, a floral yet juicy fruit that's dulcet and musky. Hawaiian pineapple, on the other hand, is wildly sweet, a caramelized fruit that is also deeply acidic. Clove's camphoric darkness perfectly offsets the pineapple's intensity. Indian jasmine is a heady substance, that's earthy (and subtly indolic). Lily of the valley and rose turn this deepening composition inside out, creating a brightness and levity. Sandalwood and patchouli continue this inversion, the divergent, green intensity of each note providing a sharp contrast against which the preceding sweetness of 1804 pops rather than cloys. Benzoin and vanilla are subtle emulsifiers, notes that smooth out the spaces between each wildly entertaining note. Musk is the quiet, unshakeable support 1804 demands. An uncompromising, inspired and free-spirited wonder, 1804 expresses not only the resilient spirit of George Sand, but also her remarkable humor. (Tahitian gardenia, Corsican peach, Hawaiian pineapple, clove, nutmeg, Indian jasmine, lily of the valley, rose of Morocco, sandalwood, patchouli, benzoin, vanilla, white musk)
