A wooded, chypre-like fragrance, Noir Patchouli awakens our senses and cloaks us in a clever, unsolvable sense of mystery. As deep as the color black, in its light absorbing power, this fragrance explains patchouli is a multi-dimensional, infinite note. While black is associated with darkness, its prismatic richness cannot exist without light; therefore, coriander provides the necessary sparkle and luminous spice to offset the smoky density of our star note. Similarly, cardamom adds a floral grace and cooling heat that enlivens the unknown shadows of patchouli. A hidden, unseen, unexplained resurgence of patchouli reasserts itself in the heart of Noir Patchouli. As this dark leaf re-emerges, the sweet embrace of floral notes comes forth to match and offset the color-dense, green-black scent. Berries provide a flash of red, fresh juice, against which a third round of patchouli pops. Just as the contrast of light throws dark into relief, there are many dimmer shades that are thus illuminated as contributors to the noir or black of this patchouli scent. Musk is a nebulous grey that floats and invisibly support the dynamic contours of this scent. Leather is a tanned, purple-brown, a bittersweet, animalic texture that grips our attention. Vanilla is pearlescent, the tangy, fresh and black motes of bursting flavor from within the vanilla bean. As a symbol of strength, dignity, power, and revolt black is a universal shade; patchouli shares this limitless quality. In this woody chypre, we experience a scent that is totally androgynous, as universally applicable as it is raw and powerful. (patchouli, coriander, cardamom, bunch of flowers, berries, musk, leather, vanilla)
