Steampunk Eau de Toilette
Masculinity, Modernized
Tabula Rasa's Steampunk line is inspired by the fascinating movement of the same name, a retro-futuristic subculture that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by Victorian industrial steam-powered machinery. Fittingly, Steampunk Eau de Toilette is a nostalgic yet modern fragrance. Lime begins the composition, a terse, floral citrus that is simultaneously staunchly masculine and playfully indulgent. As lime recalls the simple pleasures of a minimalist aftershave, it hints at the possibility of spice (think Bay Rum), and violet enters the frame. An eternally popular floral in fragrances marketed to men, violet's piquant nonchalance simultaneously invigorates and soothes, like a piece of bespoke apparel. As violet formulates a handsome second skin, the polished demeanor it invokes is creepingly suffused with the dulcet heat of Atlas cedar. If violet is too cool for school, Atlas cedar is the blush of passion, connoting rising temperatures and a positive determination. Musk seamlessly integrates cedar's steam and violet's chill, creating a classically handsome whole. An homage to eternally genteel colognes, Steampunk capitalizes on this traditional model and adds a modern, minimalist flair that makes this scent modish and divinely wearable. Steampunk is handcrafted in small batches by artisans in Germany. The diving bell on the package is a nod to Jules Verne's '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,' a source of Steampunk inspiration.
