Naughty and Nice
A manly anomaly, Mechant Loup is as naughty and nice as its name implies. Deep within the forest, Bertrand Duchaufour paints an abstract portrait of the hazelnut tree. M?chant Loup (Big Bad Wolf) is abuzz with woody motifs: dry leaves crackle, smoke seductively smolders and woods remain enigmatically impenetrable. The air is redolent of fairytale. A twinge of what seems to be liquorice is bittersweet, a dark, deliciously foreboding contrast to the addictive praline note that is composed of golden oozing honey and buttery, toasty hazelnut. Chestnut is a roasted bonbon that comforts, a slightly creamy flavor that is offset by the searing, powdered clean of sandalwood. Both sandalwood and chestnut are potent and dense in disparate ways, but myrrh takes the cake, its ineffable sense of mystery issuing from its dual identity as a hyper concentrated yet intangible vapor. Whether Mr. Wolf is a roguish charmer or a shadow between trees is the central question of Mechant Loup, which Duchaufour (happily) leaves unanswered. Elusive, elegant, and oddly but almost unrecognizably gourmand, Mechant Loup confront the wearer with a shifting portrait of his or her inner, unrequitable hungers. This scent says, ?Go ahead and be your big, bad self'. Notes: liquorice, chestnut, hazelnut, honey, sandalwood, myrrh
