Cacao is an incredible superfood, containing theobromine – which translates to “food of the gods.” They agree that nothing on earth is quite like pure cacao. That’s why Sunfood Superfoods only use the finest variety of certified organic cacao beans, never genetically modified or chemically treated.
Cacao Nibs are perfect for including in desserts, snacks, smoothies or anything that needs a little cacao crunch. Add them to something with a little sweetness to bring out their pure chocolate flavor.
Certified organic cacao
Unlike coffee, the caffeine content in chocolate is extremely low and usually insignificant. The primary compound responsible for Cacao’s energizing properties is Theobromine a cardiovascular stimulant that has less impact on the central nervous system than caffeine. It is also a vasodilator and diuretic, and relaxes the smooth muscles including those in the respiratory system. These properties have been shown in scientific studies to promote healthy blood pressure and relaxation. However, in larger amounts, theobromine may produce some uncomfortable effects the way caffeine can. Contrary to caffeine, which usually causes insomnia and anxiety, theobromine has been shown in studies to be beneficial to sleep. The theobromine and minimal caffeine content of cacao is not linked to sleep disturbances or anxiety.
Sprinkle cacao nibs onto yogurt, add to dessert recipes, mix into trail mix, or blend into smoothies to create delicious chocolate treats. Store in a cool, dry place.
