Recipe: DIY Maple Orange Bitters

A homemade bitters tincture is another simple, versatile recipe that is great to have on hand. Dandelion, Burdock and Gentian are all classic bitter options and a great place to start, but once you learn how to make your own bitters, you can experiment with countless varieties of different herbs and flavorings!

Bitters have so many benefits for digestion start to finish, from liver support and appetite to elimination. Taken before a meal, they can help stimulate the appetite and signal the entire digestive system to get ready to get to work! Taken after a meal, possibly an overindulgence, bitters can help settle an upset stomach, ease fullness, or soothe occasional bloating and gas. They can also be added to soda or tonic for a light, refreshing aperitif or used to add a bitter note to any cocktail.
