It is the result of a quest to arouse the effects of temporary bliss.'' The Nose. Hazy, euphoric and entrancing, Black Afgano is as enigmatic as the pitch, gaping mouth of an unexplored cave but as embraceable and versatile as black cashmere. Perhaps the most famous of the Nasomatto lot, Black Afgano has been the subject of fragrant conversations for years. Purportedly built on the backs of addictive substances, (speculations includes hash, cannabis, coffee, tobacco, etc?) Black Afgano succeeds not because of any one individual note, but because of the masterful seamless blending of each disparate, moreish component. At first, there is something pebbly about the texture of this scent, as if its top layer had the feels of pastry in the making, tiny pearls of butter knitting grains of flour into a greater mass. This initial frontier also presents a variety of inspiring notes; for a moment we sense a richly indolic jasmine, before we sense wet, black soil and the crumbly texture of angelica's cookie-like sweetness. As Black Afgano progresses, it begins to cohere and slowly these preceding factors come together into a smoky, sweet collaborative that feels more reminiscent of weed and the tempting textures of familiar human skin. Ultimately, there is a base dimension of Black Afgano that realizes both the energized green of fresh tobacco leaves and the funky attraction of salty, warm bodies. Universally applicable and appealing, Black Afgano feels and wears like a custom creation. Remarkably varied textures collide and emerge, into a whole that is rich, opulent yet infinitely wearable, a sheer, glamorous shadow.
