Chicory is a lovely blue flowering plant of the Asteraceae family, a European native that flourishes in the US, Australia, and many other temperate climates around the world. Much like its cousin the Dandelion, Chicory is often maligned as a weed, while at the same time being recognized by herbalists, nutritionists and wellness enthusiasts for its healthy, beneficial properties.

Chicory is a bitter herb that contains high levels of inulin, a natural prebiotic that is very helpful in supporting gut health and keeping the entire digestive system running smoothly. Raw Chicory root can be decocted for a tea, tinctured, or used to make digestive bitters. For a delicious coffee additive or substitute, we also carry Chicory Root Roasted.
