An Traditional Herbal Remedy

Corn Silk (Zea mays) comes to us from our beloved Corn Plant, native to Mexico and Central America and one of the most widely cultivated plants around the world. It is a member of the Poaceae, or grass, family of plants. Corn Silk is the thread-like stigma that grows out of the top from the inside of the husk. It common vernacular, this is sometimes called the tassel. Corn silk can be yellow or white, brown or even red depending on the species of the plant.

Corn Silk has long history of use in herbal practices, often in supporting the urinary system. It is known as a soothing diuretic and contains important nutrients including some potassium and vitamin K. Dried Corn Silk can be steeped into mild flavored tea
